odd questions

1) What do people do about printers at NU? Do most people bring their own for their own room or are you just supposed to email your papers to your professor or what? Is there a printer in every residence hall that students can use 24 hours a day?

2) I'm going to buy a laptop soon but I don't know if I will need a light one or heavy one. Do people usually bring their laptops to all their clases or will it just be staying in my room most of the day and i'll carry it to the library once in a while?

i bought a mac in June and was able to get a discount on a printer, so my dad bought me a hp photo printer. i've realized now that i'm going to have to ship it out though, so that sucks. i'm just going to ship it with all my little things like dvds and such.

i've heard that having your own printer is very useful, especially if you're one to do papers late at night...you dont have to worry about trekking to the library. i mean, you may have to pay for ink and paper, but if you're lazy like i am, having your own printer is a good deal. i'm not sure about there being printers in the residence hall...somehow i don't think there are.

thanks tophat

any other comments on printers? I am going to live in 1835 Hinman so does that building have a small computer lab or something?

Also, I need the answer to question #2 fast because I need to buy a laptop soon.

mm, i think this is the case with nu as well, but at harvard, you had to pay with your harvard id when you printed out in any of the computer labs... so at nu, i think it's those wildcat bucks or whatnot. i've read that people recommend bringing your own printer..
