oddly multiracial......help!!!!!

Hi,
I applying to US colleges for the class of 2021.

I’m ethnically Indian(Asia) and Fijian(in the Pacific). Indians are generally very overrepresented in the college admissions process and Fijians are very underrepresented.

Because of this odd racial combination, do you guys think I would have an advantage because of this or a disadvantage?

PS. I’m an international student

What racial category are Fijians? Fijian in itself is not a racial category.

How in the world would be disadvantaged by the combo? Do you plan to list only your Fijian/Pacific Islander status when you apply to avoid being labled Asian?

Are you a very strong candidate to the schools to which you seek admission?

Pacific Islanders are usually considered Asian in these types of demographics, so I think you’d be “Asian” either way you choose to categorize yourself.

@Waiting2exhale
Fijians are regarded as “Pacific Islanders” on the Common App.

I plan on stating both ethnicities (mainly because I have an Indian passport…shucks).

I’m pretty competitive to the schools I’m applying for…other than the fact that i have a crappy SAT score(1420 new)…planning to repeat in December.

Applying for mainly the Ivies, top publics(UCBerkelely, UCLA, UIUC, GeorgiaTech). I highly doubt I’ll ever get into the ivies(well, who knows!)

Are you making the expletive substitute for a 1420 SAT? :wink:
