Oddly specific question

Hey, for you current Pomona students:

Does Pomona or the Claremont Colleges have an EMS system or ambulance corps? I thought i saw something about it once, but can't find it again. If not, is there a local ambulance corps? Also, does the school offer any courses like EMT-I or EMT-P or any other EMS-related courses? I haven't seen it in the catalog, but curious to see if it exists somewhere there or elsewhere in the Claremont Consortium.

Thanks!

PE 001 JP First Aid/CPR Physical Education Activity
PE 010 PO CPR First Aid:Emergency Response

These are both being offered this semester (Spring 2008). The courses count as PE courses. The former is no credit, the latter is 0.25 credit (note that a 'regular' course is 1.0 credit). The latter course also has an $85 fee.

I don't believe that there's any sort of ambulance corps on campus, though I know there are other outlets for trained students. A friend of mine (Scripps student) was an EMT and she taught first aid PE courses. I believe that Scripps also has a student emergency response team, so I assume Pomona has something similar.

I also had a friend (CMC student) who did ski patrol, and I believe he was able to take care of his EMT (and...related...stuff...sorry, not my area of expertise!) certification at nearby Mt. Baldy. Obviously, this wouldn't be for school credit, it would be on your own time, and there's probably a price attached.

Sorry I can't give you a more solid answer. Good luck :)

Yeah, i saw those two, but i'll already be an EMT-Basic, so i was curious if there was anywhere there where i could get a higher certification or ride as a volunteer or paid EMT. Lots of bigger and state schools have EMS courses like that and their own ambulance corps, so i was just curious if they had their own. I guess i'll just have to start one haha. Just kidding, but not really. Thanks for the expedient response!

anyone else know anything on the subject?
