Odds For UCB or UCLA With ELC?

Does anyone know if there are stats posted anywhere on what percentage of ELC applicants with guaranteed admission to UCD, UCSB, UCI, or other mid or lower tier UC campuses, get accepted to top-tier UCB or UCLA? My son is applying as an Engineering major (Mechanical Engineering) with top 4% ELC status. I didn’t see where UC released this information on their website BY MAJOR.

Create your own search on the UC Statfinder:

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

You can use three variables. For example, you could use major, ELC status and gender at specific (or all) UCs, or you could use major, ELC status and SAT range at specific (or all) UCs.

The UCs are very transparent with data, and this is a wonderfully useful tool!

wow thanks for the link camathmom… it wasnt me whos the original poster, but thanks for the link!!!

camathmom, thank you!

camathmom, Just finished plugging in different applicant characteristics on Stat Finder. Your link to this UC website worked without a hitch. Thanks again!

In general,~60% of ELC’ers get into Cal and UCLA. But that number includes liberal arts majors applying to the Colleges of Letters and Sciences. Engineering is much more competitive, and depends on gender (easier for gals).

Moreover, it assumes an “average” essay. Poor essays increase the chances of rejection.

UC offers admissions tips to applicants who are first gen, low income, and having overcome “adversity”. If any or all of those categories apply to you, the chances increase. OTOH, if none of them apply, the chances decrease.

^Thanks for your input

Each UC campus publishes a chart that gives the basic admission stats which includes ELC information. There is no easy way to access them since you have to check the chart for every UC campus. Go to Campuses[/url”>http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/campuses/index.html]Campuses and click on each campus name, click on “Freshman Admission Profile,” then “Detailed {campus name} Freshman Admission Profile (PDF)” to see the chart.
