I am active in student government, NHS, and I am almost an Eagle Scout. I play Football, Track, and Cross Country. I have a pair of 29s on the ACT, with subscores being 27, 29, 32, 34 for English, Math, Reading, and Science, respectively. My class rank is currently 13 of 150, with a GPA of 3.69, and a tough schedule with all CP courses offered. I was recently accepted to SLS. What are my odds of appointment, assuming I get a nomination?

Congratulations to you as those accepted to SLS are considered competitive candidates based on very little information. It will be important for you to keep up your grades while taking challenging classes. Attain the Eagle Scout designation. Prepare for the CFA so that you can pass it at SLS. That will take a lot of pressure off and possibly move your candidacy to the level where you can receive an LOA. Try taking the ACT again as Admissions will recalculate a composite score based on all of your subscores. You may be able to raise your composite which will help.

Most of all, enjoy SLS. You'll hear from several people who said it was the best week of their life.

Thank you momoftwins, I appreciate your thorough response. I am practicing for the CFA, and I don't think passing it @ SLS will be a problem.

Almost half of SLS attendees join the next class of the USMA Corps of Cadets.
The mean ACT score of admitted candidates in previous years was 29 for both Math and English (the highest score from multiple tests is taken).
Your leadership looks good - have you been SPL? - that is highly regarded in addition to the Eagle rank.
Your class rank looks good - from previous admission profiles 72% of admitted candidates are in the upper fifth (20%) of their class.
Your athletic participation looks good.

Don't blow off you squad leader interview at SLS - it counts!

Good luck and have fun!
