Does anyone have real insight as to what the standards are for being accepted to Notre Dame as the son of a current employee? My mom, who works there, says they want to see staff children who apply have above a 3.8 GPA and over a 1300 on the SAT (Reading and Math). I am also a legacy, sibling of a current student at ND, and an employee (although i'm just an assistant at the ACE Program during the summer). Are these standards accurate for someone of my qualification? And if they are, what do you think my odds of being accepted are? I have a 3.85 GPA, 1270 SAT (which I am sure will be over 1300 by the time I'm ready to apply), I am a member of NHS, Student Government (entering my fourth straight year), a member of Spanish Club, FBLA, and I'm in the process of founding my own club. I also play football and participate in track & field, and I'm involved in a myriad of community service projects. Any insight or advice would be much appreciated.

Your mother would know best. Legacy means something as long as you have the numbers to begin with. Clearly her working there will count for a lot. Get your SATs up. Apply there as well as at other schools of interest. Best of luck!
