ODU vs VTECH Electrical Engineering

Can anyone give me an honest comparison between ODU and VTECH? My husband is planning to transfer to either of these after getting an Associate's in Electrical Engineering. He has a pretty good GPA (3.8) and we live right by ODU, so that would be more convenient, but if VTECH is as good as we're hearing it is, then it may be worthwhile to move over there.

This question may sound clueless because we are both from a different country and do not know American universities that well. I have the feeling VTECH is way better, but I would like to get more facts. We are looking to have financial stability in the future.

We've been looking at rankings but would really like to hear actual opinions, plus ODU is very difficult to find in rankings (perhaps this very fact should be a hint...?)

Thank you!

Virginia Tech has a significantly higher reputation (which will attract more out of area company recruiters to its career center), but Old Dominion is [ABET[/url] accredited for EE, so one can certainly get a decent education in EE there (note, however, that EET, also offered at Old Dominion, is not the same as EE).

Virginia Tech has a career survey of its graduates here:

Thank you, ucbalumnus! So is it safe to say that VTECH would be great, but ODU would not be a bad thing, either? None of them are dismal, right?

VaTech EE is highly ergarded. Few people outside of VA have heard much EE program in ODU.

ABET accreditation ensures a minimum standard of quality in an engineering degree program. So ODU would not be bad, but VT would be better.
