# of Apps

Has anyone on this Board heard anything about the number of apps being recived in Admissions offices this around the country. As of this date, comparing with prior years, are there any stats out there to share.

Thanks

P.S. I read somewhere on this board that U. of Pitt was 1500 apps ahead of last year based on a specific date (last week I think).

I was curious about the very same question--but have no idea where to find the answers...

You can look up the number of 18-years olds this year versus last year and, making some assumptions, come up with an estimate of the increase in college applications.

I don't want to make assumptions. I realize that there is an increase in college age applicants throughout the country, as the demographers have shown us, but I am trying to ascertain more conctrete info. Does anybody have any concrete info?

Thanks

bump.......

Last year I only remember seeing this kind of information from the colleges after the admissions deadline had passed -- usually in January. But I'm not sure what difference it makes. If applications are up 10% would you apply to different schools than if they are up 5%?

Last year was supposed to be the "peak" in terms of student numbers, but it seems that the number of schools applied to is going up each year.
