# of Classes

So I know that generally, most people will take about four classes per semester (or quarter or whatever) or maybe five if they are feeling adventurous or three if they're lazy (hehe). But is there like a general number of classes you have to take? Will they prevent you from only taking one class, or taking 10?

Depends on if the school is quarter system or semester system. My school is in quarters so I do the normal 3 classes per quarter which is 15 credits which meets full time requirement. 12-15 to be exact.

I think with semesters its 3 credit hours her class and they need 15 as well so they would take 5 classes? (correct me if I’m wrong)

i have 5 classes total of 17 credits

At my private college we need special permission from a Dean’s panel to take more than 5 classes or less than 3 classes per semester. Dropping below full-time enrollment has other negative consequences: we lose our privilege to live on campus, institutional financial aid, etc.

Public universities tend to be more open to course overloads and part-time students than privates.
