Hi, I am a 17 year old African American girl from Tennessee who wants to peruse film school I want to know my chances for getting into either Vandy or USC. I have a 29 composite ACT score, a 3.87 GPA/ 4.65 weighted GPA. I am in the top 5% of my class of 435. I have taken 8 AP classes and passed all of the exams with six 5s and two 4s. I will take 4 more by the end of my senior year. I placed 6th in the national french exam. I have a couple of other generic honors such as AP honors. I applied to Vandy, USC, Columbia. I have already been accepted to my safe school, the University of Tennessee.
Also, another question. I will still be 17 when I start college next year so will my parents have to sign for any loans that I may need to take? Thanks for the advice.
Vanderbilt: 33-34 ACT score for 50% of admitted student, your GPA is also subpar for Vandy believe it or not, your AP scores are very good.
USC: 30-34 ACT scores, GPA is on track as their average is a 3.82, You would be an ideal applicant
Taking in your hook as a URM:
Vandy: High Reach, probably 15% chance of admission/85% chance of rejection
USC: Match, 80% chance of admission
please chance back
Everyone I got Wait listed at Vandy. So what would you rate my chances now of getting in?
I really hate to put it this way, but according to CommonData your chances are about 3/4 of a percent (going by last year’s numbers). Hopefully you made it into USC, as your stats are more on par for that school.
Good luck with both.
Actually Vanderbilt accepts 8-11% of waitlistees each year, just make sure to show a lot of interest as they seriously consider interest during this round and are need aware as well. Best of luck!
