I was wondering if some one who knows more about this process might give me their opinion on my chances. I have three strong recommendations from my counselor, a history and a chem teacher.

I was also deferred from early action at MIT to regular decision

If you got deferred from MIT, then I say your chances at UVA and Vanderbilt are pretty good. Duke is a crapshoot as is MIT. Good luck!

Agree with letjustin. I would have said no chance at MIT. Reach at the other schools. Since you got deferred at MIT, I assume your EC and your essays are stellar. Perhaps you have a decent chance at the non-Ivies. I still don’t think you will get in to MIT though.

Even if I am an out of state student for UVA? I know those standards are much higher than those for in state students.

Bump…

Bump. … Any thoughts on Duke or Vanderbilt?

Bump …

Your ECs are lacking - which is probably why MIT deferred you.

But, that means that you have great chances at Vanderbilt.
