I was wondering about how many letters of recommendation I need from teachers and friends. I was thinking about 2 from teachers at school (junior year), and one from someone outside of school that knows me well. Opinions??? Also, can a letter of recommendation be written in Spanish because I would like to ask my Spanish teacher?

It depends on the college. Some accept them, some don’t, some require at least 2 or 3.

Also, I’m pretty sure rec letters have to be in English.

Most colleges require a recommendation letter from your guidance counselor, plus 1 or 2 from other teachers. And why would you want the letter to be written in Spanish…? A Spanish teacher can still write English…

Because he is a Spanish teacher and his 1st language is Spanish. He would probably write a better rec in Spanish than English don’t you think?

No, hockeydude95, I’m pretty sure it has to be in English. If the medium of instruction is English, then he should probably be fine to ask. Many language teachers may be native speakers and not as good at English… AdComs will understand this.

Alright thanks

For the number, type and information on supplemental LORs, go to the primary source, the college website, that’s where you find accurate, up-to-date information.
