% of Need Met? What does it mean?

Not pertinent to much of the discussion but isn’t the minimum wage $7.25?

He does love it…as much as he loves a job, anyhow. He’s actually a runner, not a waiter or bartender, as he’s still 17 and can’t serve alcohol. But he gets min wage and tipped out by servers, so it’s still a nice gig and he does love the crew. No free food but 50% off, and that goes for the family too ;)

We just got S’ first FA package too! It might as well be 100% of need but for some reason they left it $400 shy. Seems like a small # for them to not be able to say they met full need, but for us that’s as good as full on $40,000, not going to be ungrateful that they held 1% off the table.

S had $9K per year merit and that was stacked with the FA grant.

This is NOT a “promise to meet 100% of need” school, by the way, and it is FAFSA only.

^ It varies from state to state, in my state in minimum wage is $8.00/hr. The Federal minimum is $7.25/hour

Erin’s Dad, depends on the state. Some are higher than federal.

For those recommending jobs where tips are earned, you do realize that in most states the minimum wage for tipped employees is less than $4 an hour. In our state it’s $2.65.

^^^

True…but with tips, they earn a lot more.

My son’s paycheck from hourly wages was low, but every night he’d come home with at least $150 in cash tips.

I’m not saying you can’t earn good money but it’s not guaranteed and dependent on the popularity of the restaurant and the time of the day one works as well as the clientele.
