#of new posts and member search issues

@ccadmin_Sorin, The # of new posts isn’t resetting. If a thread has “7 new posts” before I open it, it still has “7 new posts” when I close it. I just noticed this yesterday. I’m on an Android. I usually back out of threads with the back arrow. If there are many pages I click the mortarboard on the top of the page. Normally, both of those methods work to reset the number of posts. Now neither does.

Also, when I typed your ID in and selected it from the list, it bounced me back to the main menu. I had to scroll to this forum and start my message all over again. I tested it 4 or 5 times to see if it was a temporary glitch. It wasn’t.

@CCadmin_Sorin

Same issue here (post count not resetting). This has happened before and has resolved itself after a few days but it’s annoying.

I had the same problem last night on an iPad.

Guys, I cannot replicate this. I tested it out and it works fine. The only case when it’s not updating is when I hit the “Back” button.

I started a thread this am, not realizing this one existed.

Glad I’m not alone in this.

Mine’s been wonky more than a few days. Also, I’d hit Back in other circumstances and get to some other thread (even, sometimes, one I had never opened.)

Are we not supposed to use the Back button? I checked a thread, it said 16 new, I looked at a few. I hit Back and the Latest Posts page shows the same 16.

I retried and instead of Back, hit Latest Posts. Sure, it goes there- but to page 1 (this thread was on page 3.) And now it shows NO new posts for that thread, when there should be more than 10 that I never read, never even scrolled close to.

This is too clunky.

When I look at latest posts on my IPhone 6, I often go into threads that show a count of unread posts. When I hit the back button to return to latest posts, it takes me back to the latest post list — and that unread count isn’t changed (it should show no unread). I noticed it starting a couple days ago. But it isn’t consistent, doesn’t always happen.

This thread is one example. It still shows intparent’s post as new/unread.

ETA: and that’s even after my post was added.

Same is happening to me. I hit the backspace as I do not want to go to page 1. Is there another way to continue?

This is what I have always done but before it would update and show that there were none left to read.

The “back” button issue is what we are complaining about. Using it does not reset the post count anymore.

@patsmom, to confirm, was this acting differently before? Meaning, did you see a reset count down when using the “back” button previously?

@CCadmin_Sorin Yes, we did see that. This is a pretty new thing that it doesn’t refresh the number when you go back. Maybe trying to save some processing somehow by caching the last page and not updating it when we hit back? But we want that refresh of the number.

I will say, for some time when I went into a thread where it showed unread posts, it was not taking me to the unread posts (but to the top of that page so I had to scroll). That might be fixed now (but if they did something for that, maybe they broke this?)

Yes, it was acting differently before.

This behavior has happened before but it usually resolves in a week or so. I thought the problem was with my computer but I see that others are experiencing it, too.

Yes. If 20 new responses and you only read one, after hitting Back it would decrement to 19. That simple math. Or if you read them all, it wouldn’t show any new posts awaiting your arrention.

But also, it properly showed who made the latest post. Try it. Add a post here. Hit Back. And see yours is not reflected in the count or that you made the last post.

I will say I’m having this problem on my iPhone, but not on my (Windows) laptop.

OK. Thanks for confirming, guys. I’ll create an internal ticket and will update as soon as I have news.

After posting that, it still shows 3 unread and that the last poster was patsmom. Not me. Not the two also added by intparent and Sorin.

When something like this happened in the past, it was a day or two. And long ago, before other changes and updates.

I might date this issue to roughly after those obnoxious big ads blocking text. II wonder if any adjustments led to this.

I’m having it on a laptop, FYI.

It’s deja vu, over and over again.

Any updates on when this might be fixed?
