Of these NY scchools which one is best for gen.engineering?

Son just getting interested, he is still soph/upcoming jr in HS.

Alfred Univ, Clarkson, RPI,RIT,Any SUNY'S? Also, in Glen Cove the Webb Institute(not rural but tuition is free if he wants marine or naval engineering)

I know Cornell or Cooper Union rank high but I'm not sure he would qualify- He has a GPA of about 85-90 and he got a 1200ish score on his practice SAT.

For jr yr he will take pre-calc,physics and HS engineering elective. He has Chemistry( grades 85-90)
Sr yr will take calculus and what else do you suggest? What classes are best or experience can he gain while in HS to prepare him?

He may increase his score on the real SAT and raise his GPA( that is the goal) but if he can not get into the top schools...and would like to choose from still very good engineering programs,how do you rate these mentioned above? Where do they fall in the list? Does anyone reccomend a school?

He LOVES rural NY and would like to go to a college there.

Any suggestions?

Off hand I would say:
RPI
RIT
SUNY Buffalo
Alfred=Clarkson

Why are you just limiting it to NYS?

If he is serious about RPI he should ask his GC about medal scholarship. This is $15,000 a year awarded to juniors in HS that want to go to RPI.
