Off Campus Apartment Advice

Hi Folks,

Any tips available from those of you in the know about finding a great apartment off campus for middler and above year? Is there a NEU office that has listings? How do students fill in spots when someone goes to Coop outside the Boston area? Is there a website/office/place for upperclass students to communicate with each other about available spots? Back in my day we posted fliers on the actual bulletin boards in the student Union. Is this still done?

Thanks!

DS did a semester abroad and needed a renter for his room in a 4 bedroom apartment. He posted a listing here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/northeastern-university/1079534-off-campus-apartment-advice.html</a>, on Craigslist and Facebook. The eventual renter was another Northeastern student.

Ok, lets try this link instead:

I’ve used the above link, but I’ve actually found all my off-campus apts on craigslist. I’ve also used craigslist to find subletters since we’ve had roommates go abroad/go on coop. Facebook marketplace could work also, but craigslist seems the most popular.

Also, pretty easy to find subletters here. So many students are leaving&returning to boston each term that there are always people needing a room. (speaking of which… anyone want my apartment after I graduate in may? haha)

I used craigslist to find a realtor, then got my apt. Some people avoid realtors because of the fee, but I managed to get a place that didn’t have a fee, so it was a pretty great set up.
