If so, I would appreciate any comments, recommendations, warnings, etc. I've researched them online but cannot rely on the biased sample of overly angry reviewers. This list was a good start for me because these apartments are located on the MTS Bus and UCSD Shuttle line. I will not have a car, so location will be important. (By the way, I am not in/from Cali. I am just thinking about attending UCSD for a post-bac certificate in spring, and my housing search hasn't been easy. I still have time, however.) Through my research, I have concluded that $1100-1200 for a one bedroom or studio near campus would be considered a pretty good deal. Is this a fair assumption? Most seem to be unfurnished.

Are there any other apartment complexes not listed here that still fit the commuting preference? Thanks for any input.

Even though a lot more people post negative than positive experiences, I still think it’s an overall accurate site. My roommate and I used that website to find our apartment and I’m really glad we didn’t go with some of the apartments that got low ratings. Utilities will vary depending on apartment and usage, but my roommate and I pay around $200 for cable, gas, water, and electricity per month.

i live @ the villas of rennaissance… #23 on the list I believe… and its awesome! no complaints here… they have a nice business center, a theater, a few pools, jacuzzi, gym, clubhouse. it’s really nice but it is a bit pricey.

the only one i would warn you about is costa verde… i’ve heard a few ppl bad mouth it so i would avoid it.

I’m gonna endorse #21 on that list - the Trieste Apartments. I looked at them when I was looking for a place out here and the only reason I’m not living there now is because the people I was going to live there with backed out on me (even after we put down a deposit to hold the place…jerks)

It was really nice, really close to school, and it was a pretty reasonable price (relatively) with roommates. After taking a tour, we immediately decided that we wanted it and put $100 down to hold the room. I wish I had gotten to live there.

I went to a party at my friend’s place (she lives in the Trieste Apartments) and I still loved it…I don’t think I’ve heard any bad comments about it.

SdotK has a point with Costa Verde. I wanted to live in the Towers because a lot of students live there, but they never had an opening. It’s really hard to get an apartment there because everyone wants to live there, but it’s pretty pricey and it’s got a bad reputation of the managers treating you like crap.
