off campus apartments

<p>i think this was asked recently, but just in case others can chime in... when should someone secure their apartment for the fall semester? on another forum, i'm hearing that ASAP is ideal and that most good apartments are gone by may in the university area. is it really competitive and difficult the closer it gets to august? i want to get a good place, but i can't shell out thousands of dollars in rent for the whole summer when i won't even be there. </p>

<p>if apartments are too scarce by that time, what are the nearby neighborhoods that are good places to apartment hunt?</p>

<p>You could ask the Tulane Housing Office. And once in NOLA many students find apartments on Craigslist. But your question is probably best answered by one of the local landlords. I PM’d you with the email address of an excellent one.</p>
