Off Campus Housing Costs? Suggestions?

<p>I am a beginning grad student looking for okay/good hosing in the north campus area that is withing walking/biking distance (to engineering), and I was wondering how much that might cost me? (say a 2 bedroom with a roomate)... I've been told $600-$800 is reasonable, is it?</p>

<p>Also, is it usual to get a 12 month lease, or is it easy (not any more expensive) to snag a 9 month one.</p>

<p>Beyond this, are there any other suggestions you may have for a new comer and starting grad student? I've only been to Austin once, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>One posibility is student co-op housing. They have several locations, but Taos is very convenient to engineering. The price is reasonable and includes 17 meals per week. Each student has to work 4-5 hours at the co-op. My son is planning to live in one starting his sophomore year. Here’s a link:</p>
