As an incoming transfer student, I was hoping to live on campus at the village but apparently it's not likely that there are going to be any single rooms available which is not acceptable to me. I have no problem having a roommate in the traditional sense, someone that has a separate room that shares your residential space. I, however, could not cope with someone living in the same room as me 24/7. So does anyone have any suggestions for off-campus housing? Ideally, I'd live to live in a housing complex with a significant number of other students.Where do most students live that don't live on campus?

They mostly live in the UTC area. See the following for a list of apartment complexes,

Okay here’s my take:
Costa Verde - Not that expensive, LOTS of amenities. It’s like off-campus dorms because there’s so many UCSD students living there, it’s ridiculous. You have an amazing gym (seriously you’ll never step foot in RIMAC), you’re next to ALL the off campus bus stops (Arriba, 201/201, city buses) so you’re basically 10 minutes away from school even without a permit. You’re walking distance to a McDonald’s/grocery store/Sushi place. They have elevators if you live on 2nd or higher floor. Lots of street parking and lots of guest parking. If you get a 2/2+Loft, you can rent out the loft and bring your doubles’ rent down to like 350 per person. Apartments have washer/dryer inside.
Cons: Thin walls. If you bring a girl over, the person in the next room can practically hear the foreplay. If you live less than max floor, you’ll hear the people above you especially if they’re… Large people. Make sure you put a sign on door that says to leave packages at leasing office or your stuff will get jacked!

Other than that:
Regents La Jolla if you’re a baller/shot caller/10’s 10’s 10’s 20’s on your… rent bill. Crappy gym but really nice, gated access even on foot. Extremely nice, thick walls.
Regents Court if you have small beds/want nice looking place, thick walls. Very hard floor plans to double in because the room sizes are smaller. Better amenities than most places including club house/game room. Near 201/202/Arriba.
Nobel Court is not that great, but close to Nobel/201/202, walking distance to Vons. Not that cheap either, probably 450-475 per person as double.
Regencia - Cheap cheap cheap, cheap looking, cheaply built but really convenient. You could throw a rock out your window and hit Vons. Really close to both Arriba stops and Nobel stops, 201/202. Biking distance to UCSD. Not sure about amenities cuz I only visit there. Parking sucks because they give you tandem spots (2 cars but parked vertically, one has to move for the front car to leave).

Condos in the Arriba area are nice because they’re cheap, you can have dogs, you can throw parties but the deposit is super expensive (full month’s rent) and you have to deal with a landlord. (When you’re a couple months behind your lease, they bring over potential renters and let them look at your place even if you’re there in your underwear watching Selena Gomez videos) Maintenance repairs are not as fast and you’re not as close to the bus stops. A lot of people prefer these though because of the parking/ability to throw parties/water+trash included/large size rooms(you can get a single for $550 or so).
