I've narrowed down my choices for off-campus housing, but I'm still having trouble deciding. Can anyone give me more detail on The Courtyards, The Ivy House, and Windsor Hall besides what they say on their websites and on those apartment ratings sites? Preferably people who have lived there in the past or know people who have lived there.

1) How's The Ivy House's communal bathrooms? I heard there's 6 bathrooms amongst 86 people, which doesn't sound too bad, but how is it?

2) How's the internet service for each place?

3) How's the professional roommate matching? What kind of questions do they ask? How successful is it with matching people?

4) I also heard that although rent for The Courtyards include electricity, many still inevitably go over every month and end up having to add 20 to 30 dollars to their rent. Is this true?

4) What kinds of people are in these complexes? The Ivy House keeps mentioning how it's on sorority row and it's perfect for freshmen who want to pledge since they can't stay in the house their first year. I'm absolutely certain I won't be pledging and I don't want to get stuck with ALL sorority girls. I want some diversity from all ends of the spectrum.

the internet is pretty good. The other day a friend of mine's internet was done but fixed quickly. (windsor hall).

As for The Coutyards' electricity bill problem- its true.
I'll qoute a friend who lives there:
me: is it true that people go over their utility?
them: Yes, but it depends on how much you like your air conditioning.

So basically, you might go over during the hotter months. But! If you don't use of the 30 dollar allowance given for utilities- its given back to you. Not a bad deal.

As for the roomate matching questions:
Its a short mulitple choice questionare and a check off what you like lists. It asks: How do you describe your sleeping patterns? How would you want the visitation to be? Pick which best desribes your cleaning patterns?

It also asks "check all the music you like" or "activities you do", stuff like that.

Thanks for the info. Now I'm torn between The Ivy House and Windsor Hall. All in all I've heard tons of good things about The Ivy House and mixed reviews regarding Windsor Hall. But the bad reviews might have been from when they were under a different management before Trimark, or maybe that's just my wishful thinking...

I like The Ivy house because it's really cheap, I would get a triple for $419 a month if I choose to live there. The only thing is that they have communal bathrooms, while at Windsor Hall I could get a double with an attached bathroom for $499.
