Off-campus housing

how is it?
inconvenient? more expensive? hows the food and social life differ from living in a dorm on campus? thanks

I'm speaking from what I think than what I know since I don't attend yet. But you can check the cal poly housing website for off campus housing information.

Checking it myself, I know for a fact it will be much more expensive. Inconvinience I will assume depends on how far you are from the campus. I do know that transportation around SLO is free if you are a student so getting to campus as long as your in SLO (closer to campus) you wont have a difficult time at all going to CP.

Social life... I'm assuming you'll miss out on the dorm life, but with the campus social life I guess that depends on what you make CP to be. Joining clubs and such should keep the social life big I suppose. Open House proved the big amount of energy and life in the campus.

I do know there are some off campus housing that provide a sort of dorm life experience. Just check it out in the housing website.

imo, i dont think you should go for it - try to get into the dorms so that you can have a close connection w/ ppl around you. im sure its possible if u lived off campus too, but it'd just be a lot tougher. additionally, the transition from living at home to being independent is made a little easier when ur at the dorms - you dont have to cook or clean (much). remember, baby steps :P

just my $0.02

thanks for the responses i actually have to live in apartments fall quarter cuz i applied for the summer quarter
hows the stenner glen apartments? i heard they r the closest things to living in a dorm
