Hi everyone,

I am pretty sure I will not get a single room for housing at FSU since I will be a freshman and the priority is given for juniors, etc...
SO, are there any cheap rooms or dorm style apartments i tallahassee for round the same price and comparable to to housing in the campus?

I don't know about the price (as opposed to oncampus) but my friends kids are staying at the two private dormitories that are walking distance to campus. These are:
1) The Southgate Campus: http://www.southgatecampusctr.com/welcome.html

2) Seminole Oaks: http://www.seminoleoaks.com/

most of off campus housing is a lot cheaper than being on campus. I recommend Seminole Suites....its very nice..you get your own bathroom and nice sized room.

thank you beechbum and seiclan.
How come some people still prefer oncampus housing even though theses dormitories seem to offer much better conditions?
- Oh, and sorry for the typos in the original posts.

on campus housing has its benefits because its directly on campus. the problem with fsu is the parking. so if your schedule has gaps in it and you live off campus...its hard to leave and come back to campus because you wont find a place to park. so if you live in a dorm...you can just walk back and take a nap if you want. its also easy living on campus to go to the SLC to watch a movie. you just have to decide what you value more and pick where you want to live based on that.

Some of the reworked dorms are actually quite nice, too. I saw Landis this morning and it looks super.

:-D i'm in landis!

mark19 - what's your priority number? That'll tell a lot about where you may get in.

yeah thats what i was asking you about before...when i was a freshman..my number was 4044, but i still got in my second choice (the second honors dorm)

How does an incoming Freshman learn their priority number for on campus housing?

It says your priority number when you print off your housing application. Also, you can call housing and they can tell you.

I suppose it's worth saying again:

Be sure to apply for housing as soon as humanly possible after you learn you're accepted. You'll stand a much better chance getting into the dorm you want.

It's all online these days...that makes it a lot easier.

Thanks, Cybermom. My daughter's priority number is 6051. She made her decision to go to FSU quite late after thinking she would not go there, so we had no idea what we were doing. Not wanting the honors dorms or any of the special interest dorms narrowed down her choices quite a bit. Right now we are just hoping first that she gets into oncampus housing, and second that she won't get the least pleasant dorm (whichever that may be...).
