Is anyone planning on (or do you already have) off campus housing?

Anyone living in NYC year round?

My D is transfering to the city (Eugene Lang/Parsons) and is looking for long-term year round housing. Anyone having any luck finding a nice place to live that doesn't cost over $1000 a month?

If you search there, you can find good deals. If you want around $1000 a month and are going to be at Parsons and Eugene Lang, you should look into northern Queens (Astoria, particularly).

mtholyoke2010 we were very lucky; my ultra-resourceful D found an incredible share on 5th & 30th, at a huge savings over on campus housing. Indeed she did find it on craigslist.

And guess what? She's transfering from MHC!

craigslist is my lifesaver!! I'm glad your daughter could find a great deal there. 5th and 30th-- wow, very desirable. Lucky and smart! I know she'll be fine. :) I hope she fares well at Parsons/Lang. I considered transferring back to the city (since I live here), but in the end, decided I could take the distantfromlife and separated living that is Mt. Holyoke, even if it is for another three years. I got attached to it; what can I say?

I am attending Parson's in the fall for Fashion Marketing and was wondering if there was anyone out there who is interested in living off-campus in NYC?? I live on Long Island, I'm 21 years old, female, and I am probably the easiest person to get along with. I am graduating from Hofstra University this May with a degree in International Marketing and Italian so I am looking for roommates who are goal-oriented and are 21-23 years of age. Let me know!! :)

When did your D receive her acceptance package from Parsons? Which program did she apply to? I applied to Design and Management Program and is still pending for a decison. I am so worried. =(

coolant: my D was transfer student and didn't ever get a "package" instead she received a phone call from the Dean apologizing for not responding sooner, and then told her she'd been accepted. It was in late April or super early May, I believe. We were shaking our heads over it because by that time she was sure she wasn't getting in. When she got the call her first words, were "that's ok, I understand" thinking she was being rejected. When the conversation took a different turn she couldn't speak.

I don't really know what "normal" is for Parsons. How far from NYC do you live? That may have something to do with it. Whoops, I see now, you're in SD. I dunno, have you called? It can't hurt.

"just" a Mom,
thanks for your detailed msg...... i called and they always give me the response "please wait four to six weeks". The just read the the same status to me everytime "complete and ready for review"...... o well, i will keep waiting and see what happens....

i did receive an e-mail saying that they will "start" to mail out decisions next week. However, it is "start". So hopefully, I will hear next week.

Hello all.
i'm a new user and have been admitted to parsons.
i was wondering if anyone else who has been admitted plans on living off campus and was in search of a roommate. i would very much like to live off campus considering the on campus fees are pretty hefty.

Hello, My name is Larisa and I will be going to parsons for fashion design. I am looking for a roommate to find a place with for the summer. My ideal move in date would be May 1st. If anyone has a place and is looking for a summer roommate that would be good or if somebody who is also going to parsons would like to find a place to stay together that would also be nice. I am very easy going and like to have fun I have not met somebody I cant get along with yet. Let me know, thanks.
