<p>I'm a current freshman, and next year, my group and I (we are a total of 7 people...) are looking for a house to live in next year. We are waiting to hear back from our last house, but if we do not get it, we are going to have to look over the summer.</p>
<p>In such case, does anyone have any tips for house hunting in the summer? When is the best time to come back and look for a house? Is it easier to get a house during this time?</p>
<p>I really hate that my group and I are, at the moment, homeless for the next school year.
Also, don't suggest on-campus. No longer an option for us.</p>
<p>Craigslist maybe? Doesn’t UCSC give Off-Campus students a housing listing?</p>
<p>If you are looking for a house that holds 7 people, you might be limiting your options a bit. Of course there are plenty of houses that are able to accommodate all of you, but I’m guessing most of those are full by now. </p>
<p>My hint is to maybe break up your group so it’s one group of 4 and one group of 3. I was kind of in this situation last year when 5 of us wanted to find a place (we started kind of late) and we noticed most places were taken. We mostly only found houses that were renting 2 rooms at most, so we just split up into 2 groups. I’m now living with 2 of my friends and the other group (2 friends) live in another house.</p>
<p>I would seriously suggest that as a backup because you really don’t want to be homeless and end up taking some really horrible house last minute. Some places might start getting advertised right when school ends, but it’s up to you if you want to wait or not.</p>
<p>do you need a seven bedroom house, or will you be sharing rooms? You’ll find bigger houses on Western, in the Circles neighborhood, and possibly Soquel/Aptos if you’re willing to commute.</p>
