Hi everyone, I was wondering what a one person studio apartment reasonably close to campus goes for? I am comfortable up to a 20 minute drive, but ideally I'd like to drive as little as possible. This is my first time living on my own, so I really have no idea and all the apartments on apartments.com are really expensive. Thanks!

bump

does anyone (or anyone you know) commute from oakland? oakland might be an option because i hear it’s much cheaper to live there

Studios in Berkeley are expensive ($900 to $1200), but not so much if you split the rent with a roommate.

For studios farther away, check craigslist. You can also look into rooming houses - having your own private room but with shared kitchen/bathroom, which is less expensive than having a studio to yourself.

At least $800 (perhaps less in South/West Berkeley). And for anywhere near campus, it’s going to be (relatively) expensive.

hmm are rates going to be more expensive if i choose to find a place around late july?

I don’t think the rates will be more expensive, but many of the more “desirable” apartments (like ones with waitlists) will be gone by then.
