Does anyone have experience with obtaining off campus summer housing? Are there apartments that lease for just the summer or do you have to sublet from someone who has a full year lease? Is there a good source for available summer leases/sublets? When should he start looking?

My son did research last summer and used his $2000 one time NMF stipend to pay for housing at the Bluffs. He was in a four bedroom apartment to himself! A Washer & Dryer is in each unit at the Bluffs.

^Thanks! Did your son have to sublet or just sign a lease for the summer?

He signed the contract with the UA housing office and the charges were posted as on campus housing for Summer term.

Randomparent: If your student is in the honors college, have him or her also let the staff know of an interest in subleasing a place. Sometimes a student will head home for the summer and would like someone to occupy his/her place for a few months. Or have your student speak with his/her adviser about this. That could lead to a summer housing opportunity.

Thanks momof3boyz and momreads. I will suggest he talk to the honors college staff.

So if S rents an apt for next year does it start in aug and run through the following summer? Or does it start in May?

Our lease at Sterling Crimson lease ran August to August…$605 per person for a 4 bedroom…we also paid utilities at a bout $40 a month. If you want to have someone assume your lease then you have to pay Sterling Crimson and additional $350. We paid no deposit.
