Off the waitlist, but...

Hello :)

I'm a student on multiple waitlists, and I've been recently accepted to Grinnell after a long wait. I'm very interested in attending the institution, and I'm planning to send a deposit soon.

However, Grinnell isn't my top choice. So here's my question:

What can I do if, after sending a deposit to Grinnell, my first choice college offers me a spot a few weeks from now?

I was informed that I can accept the first choice's offer, and all I'll lose is the deposit I'll send to Grinnell. Is this accurate information? Thank you!

Have you deposited nowhere already?

That’s pretty much the size of it. If you decide not to attend, you’ll forfeit your deposit. In much the same way that, if you’ve already deposited somewhere, you’ll lose that deposit if you withdraw from that college in order to accept Grinnell’s offer.

I think that’s right. Send in the deposit and it’s ok to wait for others.

Thank you Sikorsky and bethievt! That helped alot  and no, I didn’t deposit anywhere else.
