off the waitlist

I got a call today saying that I have been taken off the waitlist for duke and accepted. The problem is that I had been planning on attending Carnegie Mellon in the computer science school (although, I'm not really sure if I'm interested in Computer Science, I might do engr. or some science (physics) or math). I can't really decide which place to go, and I haven't visited Duke before, and I'm not sure if I'll have the chance to visit Duke, as I only have two weeks to decide, and it is a long drive (or expensive planeride to Duke). Can anybody give me some pros/cons of either university/ any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I think you should visit Duke if possible. It's hard to make a decision to go somewhere without seeing it first, and you might be passing up a good opportunity if you enroll at CMU without visiting Duke.

Come to Duke and to Pratt - among other things, there aren't NEARLY as many mispronounciations of our name.

i just got off the waitlist too..really surprised..but yah....i can't choose between USC (full tuition scholarship) and duke...for BME! haha so if anyone has ANY input...it'd be very much appreciated

for the poster above me:

I chose Duke over a full scholarship at USC this year, as well as over a full scholarship at Brandeis. It came down to realizing Duke was an opportunity I wouldn't have again and didn't want to turn down. Duke offers the entire college experience I want, but I put $ and college in a very realistic perspective, and knew I'd be happy at USC too.

It was a VERY hard decision, especially for a lot of personal reasons involved that I'd rather explain in PM or AIM. If you would like the specific details that ended up steering me toward Duke over free-USC, you can definitely PM me for my AIM name :)

USC and Duke are similar in many aspects- amazing school spirit, great alumni networking, etc. If you live in Los Angeles like I do, you'd know that having a degree from USC can get you a job in this city in a snap. However, during my decision process, my friends, family friends, and teachers told me that Duke is a school they would also never turn down.

for the original poster: I know nothing really about Carnegie Mellon, sorry :/

sbehaha, I turned down half at USC for Duke today.

yeah...that's another thing..i turned down UPENN..Cornell...georgetown SFS...northwestern....for USC Trustee...but like...i dunno...duke is like amazing (as are the others) but still...ahhhh!!! llollerskates....can you PM me about like specific reasons??? i have like 2 weeks to decide
