True momothree, however, I think some schools are already telling applicants that they will not be going to the waitlist (that's how I read some of the posts).

A school might use its waitlist, however, if a student who declined was "needed" by the school is some specific area and there was a waitlist person who fit the bill....i.e. LindaS's underwater tubaphone player (do I have that right, Linda?)

Gunner, you'll probably meet my friend from my small school. He was taken off the waitlist yesterday and will be attending Taft. He'll be a day student and happens to be quite a good footballer.
Man U sucks.

i got into hotchkiss..

late app though..not quite waitlist

+plus aston villa is way better than gunners or man u or liverpool

it is only april tenth! i think it is premature to write off wait list schools. obviously no one should count on getting in off of a wait list, but i find it more surprising that any school has already gone to its wait list. good luck to those of you waiting...

Momofthree, we cared only about pre-4/10 waitlist because we had acceptance at a wonderful school. We made a choice that we were only going to remain waitlisted through the 4/10 deadline, after which we were going to commit to the school that wanted our D. I suspect there are other CC'ers who did similarly. I agree that there are likely to be at least some WL spots opening in the summer. We consider ourselves very fortunate that we don't have to sweat out one of those slots, and sympathize and send good thoughts to those for whom a waitlist slot is their only shot at a BS of their choice.

Yup, you got it right Keyleme!

I just think there is a better way to tell a student. Yes, they may go to the waitlist for a specific need, or they may admit a "conditional" waitlisted kid and still admissions would feel as though they were not going to the wait list. However, in those 2 kids minds they WERE taken off the waitlist, AND word gets around.

With so many waitlist threads going, I did post that Westminster had movement late yesterday. They had a very small waitlist and a very high yeild last year so I think they admitted less than usual because of that. My son didn't stay on the Westy waitlist and I'm sure when he hears a part of him may regret it. But as laxtaxi says, we can't look back. It is their loss and the school he's attending is truly a better fit and I think he recognizes that - although I think he 'recognized' it more when he was on the waitlist! LOL
