My D is applying for Fall 2014 admission. A friend told me that submission of a photo is recommended or required but I haven't seen this criteria. Does anyone know if this is true, or if my friend is "pulling my leg?"

I can only speak for myself. I have not heard or seen anything about submitting a photo as part of the application. We certainly didn’t have to do that two years ago when S applied.

I sent three kids to college and helped them fill out more applications than I care to think about and never once were they asked to send a photo.

It used to be a standard part of an application in many places. Then (mid to late sixties) potential discrimination became an issue. A photo became optional, but schools were reluctant to require it because of liability.

We had to send a photo for the SAT. I’m not completely sure if colleges had access to the photo.

Check how the colleges word it. Ime, they don’t ask for it. Some hs transcripts include a photo. CB doesn’t send one to colleges, as far as I know. That’s for verification at test centers.

Thanks everyone! I thought the photo requirement sounded questionable. :)
