well its not too risky. I've shown it to my english teacher, gc, and 3 moms on these forums. and they all agree it won't offend anyone.

i think it really reveals my personality and thoughts. believe it or not.

Precisely my point.

You found a topic that enables you to reveal yourself, to write personally and persuasively. I absolutely do believe that.

IMO it would have been unwise, risky for you to reject that topic and go for a more conventional essay.

I agree with Adad's post. I graduated from The College of New Jersey in August, though I spent my freshman year at Chestnut Hill College (with a full tuition scholarship). I was sick all through junior high and high school - very ill, had to be home-tutored and only able to go out of the house like once a month for several years. I wrote my essay about being ill, and started it by saying something like 'Most people who have spent five years of their life in one room have been kidnapped. I have spent five years of my life in one room because of a chronic illness...' I got a lot of compliments on the essay and think it may have had a factor in my full scholarship at Chestnut Hill. I think if you have had a unique personal experience, writing about that can be very good. I'm now applying to grad programs and have been going through what you are all going through, trying to write a good essay that will catch the attention of the admissions officers. Best of luck

My essay was about Policy Debate and how it changed my life.
Sound cliche? I think not.

I wrote about how my first time was with another debater at a debate tournament, how damn funny it was, random conversations that only debaters would get, and how messed up and awsome the debate community is. I pity the children that talk about how it improved their critical thinking skills or made them more personable.

I have many short stories and essays published and currently looking to publish a novel, trust me, it was well written and hilarious in a quirky and appropriate way. I have had teachers, parents, and friends ask for copies.

hah....I wrote about me being a teetotaler and hating alcoholics......

wat if the adcom turned out to be an alcoholic........Now thats a risk!!!

I wonder how my essay will fare, it was definately quirky. I wrote about playing with wild monkies, getting lost in a foreign country, and mattress surfing.
