Offcampus Housing?

Does anyone know which areas near McGill has the best and most convenient housing? I'm going to be living off campus. Probably looking for a 2&1/2 - 3&1/2 apartment or flat, preferably in a quiet neighborhood. Any suggestions where to look? Thanks!

McGill has a pretty active listing of off-campus housing, zone A/B is the closest and most convenient. You can also get on their alert email list when new listing is posted.

McGill Ghetto is indeed the most convenient, but it isn’t the most quiet nor the most affordable. I would recommend looking at places west of campus.

Thanks, I was using that site as well. Do you think the Lower Plateau zones and the Village has decent housing as well?

I was just up there with my son and we rented a 1 1/2 in the Ghetto right down the street from the music building, which is handy since he’s a transfer music major. Anyway, even though I prepared and researched as much as possible and had as many appointments set up as possible, we ended up finding the place we rented just by zeroing in on the area he wanted to be and then just walking up and down the streets calling the numbers posted on the many a louer (for rent) signs. There seems to be no shortage of apartments, but with lots of variety as to condition and amenities. You’ll see when you get there and look at a few places. Make sure you have a cell phone and open a checking account as soon as you get there.
