Offered a plane ticket?

Someone from UPenn's undergraduate admissions left me a message offering to buy my flight to attend Scholar's Preview April 12-14th. Was anyone else given this offer? I am very inclined to go, I already spoke to my principal and he said the absences would be excused if I do.

How did you receive this message. Are you a likely? Where are you from?

Voicemail; yes; toward the west coast. Is it something they do for people further away or is this something rare? Or does anyone even know for that matter…

My guess (from a random poster who only know you by your question) is that you have significant financial need and very high stats. They want you to come to Penn and know that the preview day might help you chose Penn but also know that you might not be able to come to preview day without assistance.

My stab in the dark.

That seems quite reasonable, although I’m not so sure about the very high stats part; the only outstanding stat I have is my ACT score, my GPA is rather mediocre and my SAT is only decent (in the realm of ivy admissions anyway). The financial need part could be it though. I suppose I shouldn’t worry about it too much, I mean, they’re offering me a flight either way…

Happens to a bunch of people. Take the flight and enjoy your visit!
