Offering cupcakes to anyone who chances me! ;D

...just kidding

False advertising.

BUT NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE (-blackmail-) I'd really love it if you could chance me for a couple schools. Please? Pretty please? D:

I'm an international student, and I've gone to enough College Admissions 101 lectures to figure out that the percentage of acceptance for an international student is lower than that of a noninternational student. That crushes me...and I'd really love to know if I'm wasting my time applying to some of the colleges on my list.

Counselor Rec: Our counselor is new but I'm pretty sure it'll be a good rec.

My essays are kind of quirky...I'm trying to come off as unique as I can without sounding too out there. Some are more serious, but for the most part, they're really ME. I'm trying to sound like a teenager, and not a middle-aged woman trapped in a 17 year old body.

I don't know what else to write...LOL

SOOO. Chance me and I”ll chance you back. Thanks!

BTW: Want to major in biomed or cog sci as premed.

thank you! <3

[If you're feeling rebellious (or hungry) I'm also offering cupcakes to anyone that wants to help me with my essays :(]

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G stats, i believe you have a very realistic chance at Stanford and all the other schools you mentioned, including Harvard even tough admissions there are kind of random, i don’t see how any school could say no to you. Also you seem to be very nice and enthusiastic so you would want to arrange an interview I’m truly impressed i mean wow! after seeing this i feel like i have no chance.Good luck.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1398342-any-advice-help-me-please.html</a></p>

I’m not well versed in all of the inner workings of college admissions, but I’d say wow. That’s good. I’m sure you will get into at least one of those schools you are applying to. Btw, Apa kabar, How is Indonesia? I would love to go there. It seems like such a beautiful place.

Stanford: High match (finally, the kind of file that isn’t a reach for that kind of school)
UCB: Match
UCLA: Match
USC: Match (maybe low match, or even safety, if legacies are factored in)
Caltech: High match
Columbia: High match
UPenn: High match
UCSD: Safety
LMU: Safety
UCI: Safety
MIT: Reach
JHU: High match/reach
Cornell: High match
Harvard: Reach (this school is a reach practically no matter what)

I think you have good chances.

Make my cupcake fudge. In fact, maybe the ones with fudge filling.

Wow!!! Amazing stats, I think you have a good chance at all of them.
UCB: Match
UCLA: Match
USC: Match
Caltech: High match

I think you have a great chance!

Please ignore the people above me. They have no clue what they are talking about. You are not a “high match” for CalTech or Stanford, because these schools are just as hard to get into as Harvard. Students will be rejected from CalTech and Stanford often to be accepted at Harvard, and vice versa.

That said you are an IDEAL candidate for all of these schools. I really do think you are a “match” for all the top schools, but in terms of probability they still remain reaches. I’m trying to say that your chances at Stanford and CalTech could be 5 times the average applicant (and probably are), and you will still be more likely to be rejected than to get in.

*Edit: I think in your situation, you will get in. But it’s not guaranteed at all.

I notice that you do have some experience in research, which is good since CalTech is all about research. I want to caution you about attending CalTech. If you really really like doing outreach programs and helping the community out, CalTech may not be the best college for you. CalTech is a very academic-oriented school, and with a class size of 300 students, it isn’t the best place to rally your classmates and make a difference. That said, I’m sure you are capable of organizing something no matter where you are placed.

Another good thing about CalTech is that their volleyball team is pretty small so you have a very good chance of making their varsity team.

If you have the option to go anywhere you want, I think you would have a better time at Columbia than any other school, honestly. Looking at the sheer amount of volunteer work that you have done, I think it would be the best option for you to continue doing social work.

Even though you’re an international student, just from your stats alone you can tell that you’ve worked really hard. Then you can tell from all your ECs that you clearly have a passion for the things you do. Either you’re here to feel reassured or you’re really scared because you’re an international student. Regardless you’re pretty much a match for all your schools except for Stanford, Harvard and MIT.

Stanford you probably have the highest chances of the 3 to get into.
Harvard is rather random, same with Stanford, but it’s good that you’re “applying to apply”
MIT I’m rather unclear of due to the major you want.

Biomed is extremely tough for many schools because it’s such a big thing now.

I’m not really experienced with these things, but with your stats and ECs I wouldn’t be surprised if you got accepted into everything except for Harvard and MIT.

Also like wilsun007 said, CalTech is very very small and they’re extremely academic-oriented. I’m not sure what kind of size of school you’re looking for, but CalTech might not be for you if don’t like small schools.

Anyways, best of luck! Hope you get into Stanford!

Chance me if you could? :)

My god I didn’t expect this many replies! Dying!

@MarceloSanchez Ohmygoodness I am so sure you have a chance. I’ll go chance you up right now (or in like, …20 minutes when I’m done with all this work :[)

@JordanB95 Baik, kamu? God knows that that’s probably not right in terms of grammar, haha. Ive lived in Indonesia almost all my life but my Bahasa really really sucks. Indonesia’s okay. I live in Surabaya which is the boring of the boring, but the people are pretty cool so I like it. You definitely need to come to the beaches here - Bali’s kinda commercialized now, but Lombok and the Gili Islands are like heaven on Earth <3

@Catria your reply was incredibly helpful  I will bake you 50 cupcakes (…or I might buy them LOL) if I actually do end up with the matches that you’ve listed :)

@lmkh70 why thank you good sir. I put some mocha in cuz I’m just that nice ;D http://■■■■■■/VdL4p</a></p>

@lakerking Thanks! offers virtual cupcake

@wilsun007 Hiya  That’s what I thought too. I read the thread with the admissions decisions and stats of the people who applied to Stanford in the last couple years and basically died inside. So many people with way better stats than me were rejected. Here’s hoping I make the cut! Anddd, I’m kind of iffy about going to Caltech because I’ve spent my whole life in a tiny tiny school and would love for college to be completely different. But Caltech is an amazing school no matter what. Here’s your cupcake –> [insert here]

@Ninchendo My resume isn’t as complete as other people just for the fact that there are barely any opportunities in my city that would stand out. I don’t really expect to get into Harvard or MIT but I’m praying with all my heart that I get into Stanford. And I’ll definitely chance you when I…have the chance ;D

Thank you all so much for replying!!

Baik! And don’t worry, that is correct ( I think, from my limited knowledge of bahasa.) I won’t derail your thread any more. Good luck! I’d be more than happy to take a look at your essay, and maybe you could take a look at one of my “Why Us”'s. My essays are set in stone.

And even a “high match” is a school where rejection is likely but there’s still some room for an acceptance…

That said, Caltech’s status is now “reach” from my part…

Don’t forget to chance me please, i’d love to know your opinion about my case. Thanks.

You have amazing stats!!! I say your matches for most but reaches at Harvard, Upenn,Columbia, and MIT

Stanford: Reach
Columbia: Reach (Columbia’s acceptance rate is ~8%)

Any school would drool for you! I say hang the people that say reach, because with EC’s like THAT(!) you should be F-I-N-E fine!

Mind chancing meh? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1486215-how-about-these-schools.html</a></p>
