Hey guys, I am wondering:

I am in 8th semester at a prestigious university. Almost graduating. if I dont’ graduate and appply to rice as a transfer, i wouldn’t get it right? b/c ad coms would be very suspicious as to why I would do that?

theinsideroute- you should do it

You will need to spend a minimum of 4 semesters at Rice after transferring. Why would you do this with one semester to go???

I submitted my application at the end of February, but I still haven’t gotten my ESTHER account. I emailed admissions on Friday to notify them, but I haven’t gotten a reply. It’s really worrying me. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m not sure if they were even the right people to email… I just want to make sure everything got there okay (even though it’s too late to fix it).

I haven’t gotten mine either, but I submitted mine in March. If you’re really worried, I would just call Rice admissions about it. They are usually fairly good about responding to emails in a prompt manner, though. They will probably email you back in a day or two.

I submitted my entire application on March 7th and received my Esther account on the 16th.

I finally got an email back from Rice and I have my Esther account. I think the problem was that since I’ve applied before, I already had an account. When I logged on, it said the last time I had logged on was last year. I could have saved myself a lot of worry if I had just gone through my old information and found my ID myself. Oh well…

Good Luck!

Thanks for reposting krs! I would’ve been waiting forever as I applied to Rice last year as well. Hope that settles a lot of your worries. Best of luck to you and everyone else. :)

No problem. Good luck to everyone! :)

Hey all, I hope this thread isn’t still closed and I could get some input. I’m currently a Freshman at the United States Military Academy, West Point, and I also applied to transfer to Rice for the Fall 2011 semester. I’ve been here the whole year and have given this school a pretty good chance but I just don’t think it’s for me.

Here are some stats from college:
-3.8 cumulative GPA with 18 credits taken
-Ranked 34th (takes in to account academic, physical, and military grades) overall out of 1,250.
-Investment Club, Domestic Affairs forum, A.L.L.I.E.S.
-I was on the Army snowboard team and taught the children of military families how to snowboard twice a week during the winter.
-My instructors wrote some great recommendations.

High School:
-Valedictorian (4.8 cumulative weighted)
-Varsity Baseball 3 years
-ACT-29
-SAT-1870. Yeah I know that’s pretty low but I only took it once because I was already “accepted” at West Point.

I’m really just looking for any input I can get because I’m hoping to have a different college experience than what I’m getting thus far, hopefully one at Rice!

Good luck to everyone, I hope we’re able to all meet each other next year

Your stats are good and put you in range to get in. Your GPA is good as is your rank.

Good Luck!

Do you guys think we’ll really have to wait until May 15 to find out?

Knowing rice, yes. Lol good luck

@narwhals: No you don’t. I got my decision on April 23 or 24 last year and i had a month extension on my application being late. They’ve been sending their decisions around that time i think. Good luck.

According to last year’s fall transfer thread, everyone got an email about their decision on April 27th. That is just 15 days away!

The wait is killing me…I hope we find out next week. I’m getting pushed back with all my other colleges asking for commitments!!

The wait is killing me too! Rice is definitely my number one school! Apparently we’re supposed to receive an e-mail followed by a folder in the mail a few days later if accepted.

Hmm are u applying as a junior or sophomore?
