I applied as a sophomore. What about you?

Junior with core complete

I’m also a transfer applicant! This will actually be the second time I’m transferring colleges (I went to Wheaton College in MA and am currently a student at Trinity University, and as my parents are now calling it, ‘college hopping’) but I believe my decision making has ultimately led me to apply to a school like Rice University.

Regardless of the admission board’s decision in a few days, whether you get in or not, good luck to everyone. :)

Lol good luck to you too!!

Hey julianjfc, I have a quick question for you. Along with applying to Rice, I applied and was accepted to Trinity. Why do you want to transfer from Trinity? I love both schools but it’s always nice for some input.

And good luck to everyone! Its getting close!

It is getting extremely close! I’m hoping for an email sometime this week! Good luck to everyone!

Close indeed! I can smell the fear and anxiety. Good luck to all!

Haha me too keeping my fingers crossed XD

Hi there. I have no complaints about Trinity University, it’s everything a well-rounded student could want. The students here are by and large very friendly and the kindness doesn’t stop after orientation; you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t open to getting to know you. I’ve had people I met for only an instance and they would wave or say hello the next day. This kind of lifestyle really compliments your well being, and I can optimistically say if you choose Trinity you’ll make a good amount of friends.

Trinity is one of the more conservative Texas schools. People disagree and go so far as to say its liberal, but having attended Wheaton College in MA I think we have some very conservative liberals here! With that said, the people I’ve met are open minded about their politics but you do meet your diehard Republicans. But I don’t see politics stressed so much here if I’m correct. Academically Trinity is superior, and they have strong language programs and I was initially attracted to the international population which I believe is at 10%.

The reason I might be leaving Trinity however is because I know Rice provides stronger anthropology, linguistics, and language courses and it is in fact a more research oriented institution. Rice and Trinity have a long history together as well as their professors, so I’ve been able to figure out the pros and cons of each institution along the way. But I think the biggest reason why Rice would be awesome for me is also because its 15 minutes down the block from where I live.

I could explain in more detail why I’m transferring but I don’t want to bore you too much haha. Why are you transferring? What are you thinking of doing if you get into Rice?

Good luck to everyone once again!

I’m so nervous
Anybody know any transfer stats? Ones more specific than just the overall acceptance rate?

If I’m not mistaken, I read somewhere that in 2009 about 400 or so applied, a little over 100 were accepted, and about 60 enrolled. I don’t know what the stats will be like this time around because there was no spring transfer option this past spring, so maybe the number of applications Rice receives will be slightly higher? Did anyone else know of any more recent stats?

I haven’t heard from anything or anyone about recent statistics. And yeah I think that’s right, it’s even harder to make ideas up since they didn’t take transfers for the fall. It’s already the 26th and still no word. Nerve-wracking. :S

According to last year’s thread, tomorrow was the day pretty much everyone found out via email. I can’t believe tomorrow might be the day!

Well it sure won’t be May 15. It’s a Sunday lol. So yes, tomorrow might be the day don’t forget to post if anything comes!

Good luck, everyone!

Well the date has been April 27th for past two years…!!

I’ve been wringing my sweaty hands and chewing my fingernails all week long so I called the admissions office myself to ask the exact date when they were going to release the admission decisions.

The lady said that for sure it’ll be out before May 13-15 but it might come out a little bit late this year. So I don’t know. I sure hope it’s tomorrow because my nerves are killing me and I can’t stand this anymore! 8-O

Haha, I am nervous as well, but I try to distract myself with music and talk it out with friends. If you guys would like to chat over AIM or something I think it’d be a good way to release some tension! Let me know and I’ll send you a PM with my screen name. :)

That is so annoying to hear! I hope I’m not getting my hopes up for nothing about the date being the 27th! I also called admissions last week and asked the same thing. The woman I spoke to told me “by May 15th”, which was a very vague answer and certainly not the one I was looking for…

Yea but the deadline has always been may 15. Goodness, this is killing me. I keep checking my email!!
