OFFICAL 10/22 ACT thread

I said no, they said that it wasn't to relieve the stress of a busy job, they did it in the first place because thier job WASN't busy. I don't remember which no I had though, I think it was the last one.

so it was 1050 then??

do you guys remember what you put for the very last one on the English section, the story abou the Florida painters?

and what did you put for the one that said if you take out the phrase: "up and down Florida 1 Highway" what would the passage lose?

i put something about their connection to florida or something...

It can't be 1050. That was the intended goal for # of books, but it stated they needed 183 MORE to fulfill it.

The Highway example wasn't the connection to Florida. I can't remember the choices exactly, but it wasn't that answer.

If they omited it it would take out the reason for thier name "highway".

Yeah, it was 1050-183

for the up and down Florida 1 highway one, I said it would lose detail that explain how they got their name or something to that sort.. and for the Florida painters.. I put A.. that's all i remember... something about recoginition..

Yes, that was the answer. The topic was concerning the name of the group, which was the Highwaymen or something, so that would make sense.

With the exception of the last 4-5, the only math ones that gave me any trouble was the function ones...I couldn't remember how to do them.

I put it gave them the connection to florida... the topic sentence talked about florida painters and that line would be the only line that connected them to the topic sentence, florida

hm

can anyone else think of any other problems?

how about this math problem

p<q
abs(p) = abs(q), then
p/q =?

that was like p/q=1 i think

I put less than 1 IIRC. It cannot be 1 or over one and it must be positive.

darn.. i put -1, because p is less than q... and absolute value of p equals absolute value of q, then p divided by q MUST be negative since p is LESS than q... for instance

let's say p = -1 and q = 1, then... abs(-1) = abs(1) which is true.. and therefore
-1/1 = -1

yeh, i made a mistake, i put teh same thing as you, -1

i just plugged in like 5, and it had to be -1

what did u guys put for the questions that asked about the # of radius 10 circles which can be cut from the 40 by 60 rectangle?

It's 6 if you draw it out, but 7 if u do it algebraically..... i put 6

i put 6 too

because, like you said, if you draw it out, it's 6

It's 7.

I found the area of the circle then the area of the rectangle. I divided the area of the rectangle bu the area of the circle and got like 7.5 or so, so the answer is 7.

y would you divide?

wouldn't you subtract?

No, because if you find the area of the circle you have to find how many circles would fit in the rectangle, so you would have to divide.
