Offical Columbia 2020 Waitlist Thread

@sanchezjanet98 Thanks!! and same to you! Hope we can have a good outcome through all the waiting :slight_smile:

Hey guys, I just found this thread. Just writing because I got a call this morning from Columbia admissions, asking if I was still “interested” in coming to CC. I obviously said “YESSS.” They then told me that I’ll be sent an update next week.

Congrats!! What college/major did you apply?

Also anyone know how to find the new regional admissions officer emails? Mine is no longer working at Columbia…

@RealLettuce Columbia College for Econ. And thanks!

@bobchillax That seems like a good sign!! Did you send any updates or contact the admissions office/regional officer?

@wintergreen16 I just sent the update letter that most others did in the middle of april, in which I pretty much reiterated my interest in the school.

@bobchillax Gotcha. Thanks for sharing!

@bobchillax thanks for sharing! Did you send in the latter after May.2nd?

@CherylYM Nope! I think i sent it in mid-april

I sent a second update because I won some huge scholarships and was on the local TV being interviewed. I say if you have truly things to report, contact your regional officer and send it in. At this point it can’t hurt.

Hello. I was contacted on Friday and emailed saying, “would you go if accepted.” (CC.) I was immediately excited, but then really didn’t know if that meant anything. Just wondering here: is that a generic thing that everyone on the WL was asked? Also, if it helps, this was a specific woman, not the school itself, so it seemed more personal (pro); however, if there were a place that had the time and effort to feign a sense of affinity to each student to comfort them, I feel like an ivy would have someone on staff to do so. Though, to be fair, I know nothing of the college application process–i just applied and updated my resume as needed. She called me (I didn’t answer–I didn’t know it was Columbia) and then she emailed me on Friday. Two separate forms of contact? Big deal, not a big deal? Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but I just love Columbia too much that I don’t want it to dilute my sensibility.

My thoughts: since it was a Friday, she emailed me again so they could finalize the list for the weekend, as it seems that they probably aren’t going to be working Saturday or Sunday. Since she told me decisions will be released Monday, and to “keep an eye out,” I feel like they wouldn’t leave that office until everything was final. I really don’t want to wait on another extended list, and the payments for Berkeley are starting to be more demanding as if I had to wait again I would be spending more and more on the other school. Nonetheless, just wondering on whether any of that means anything, or if i’m buying into false hope. My odds say that, based on that email–50/50 shot. Again, spare my ignorance, as I really don’t know much of anything about the intricacies of college applications/processes.

@rickandmorty1997 My guess is that you are
in.Good luck!

Is it only the people who are specifically contacted that get admitted? Or is there still hope?

I’m assuming since there aren’t that many people who do get admitted, they would have managed to contact most of them to make sure they would actually attend… but then again you could also assume that your statement was clear enough that they didn’t have to contact you… I guess we’ll see tomorrow?

Anyone hear back today yet?

Hey guys, just letting you know that I got off the waitlist for columbia a few minutes ago. Thanks to @mattyhan for starting this thread, and thanks to all of you who helped me through this stressful time - good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

@bobchillax where are you from, by what means of communication did you find out, and what school did you apply to.

@seniors2016boi From CA, I got a call from Columbia last week to reaffirm my interest in the school, and was admitted through an email referencing a portal update today at ~2 PM. I applied to Columbia College.
