Offical Notre Dame Transfer 2011

Haha bigmike I also think I might be switching my major if accepted! I applied to the PLS but I think I’m switching to political science/peace studies. Cannot waitttt!

Arabic Studies here! I have just been notified that I probably won’t have to take any summer courses, if accepted.

TerekS, did they notify you by phone or email?!

well, I had sent them an emailing asking when I would be notified if I was going to have have to take a summer course. They responded (via email) telling me that my application had not been reviewed yet, but by looking at the courses I had taken (31 credits) I probably was not going to have to take any summer classes (if accepted). I initiated the correspondence! This was on Friday, May 20th.

ahh okay thank you! looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer if they hadn’t yet reviewed your application :o( !!

Exactly! The wait is killing me though…may I ask what college you went to for your first year?

Me too. Emory, you?

University of Dayton. As long as your credits transfer, you should be fine. Emory has an excellent reputation!

I tried to pay close attention to my courses once I knew I wanted to transfer to ND to make sure that they would! Fingers crosssed from here on out…

Yeah man, good luck! Keep me posted, I will do the same.

They hadn’t reviewed your app yet? That’s kind of a bummer cus that means they probably haven’t reviewed a lot of them.
And I have a friend who actually is transferring out of Dayton this year too! What a coincidence. Though she’s off to Purdue.
I really just wish Arts and Letters didn’t take to long to take action.

That is a pretty big coincidence! Where are you coming from bigmike?

Nothing in the mail today =/

I’m coming from IU Bloomington, and I actually live in South Bend. Went to high school right across the street from ND.
And nothing for me in the mail today either.

Reading your posts takes us back to this time last year. As I said earlier, my son wasn’t notified (Arts and Letters) until June 16th, and he had to take two summer courses so really had to hustle to get signed up – all worked out well though. In another two weeks, you should all know and hopefully be very happy! Next will come the housing lottery. Son didn’t get on-campus so lived very nearby (under 1/4 mile) with a few other kids, had a great time, then got on-campus this past semester.

I’m rooting for all of you - I know what a special place ND is :)

Thank you myoneandonly! June 16th is crazy!! I hope I don’t have to wait that long…but as long as it’s good news, I will wait until August! lol

The huge incoming class makes me really feel like there’s no way we’re gonna get housing on campus. Gaaaaaaaaaah that’s so depressing! I don’t want to have to live with my parents if I’m at ND.
And I don’t know about waiting til August lol. I’m willing to wait until the end of mid-June

You know what I meant! But how big is the incoming class? I wonder if those who were accepted first have an advantage in receiving housing on campus? I heard that a week after the semester starts, a lot of rooms become available.

The freshmen class is big enough that ND didn’t even touch their waitlist. Not sure exactly how much bigger thann they anticipated though.
And as far as I know housing selection is a lottery, so there’s no advanatage. Everyone gets their number once they’re done accepting people.

You’re def. not at a disadvantage even if you’re not notified til Juky 1. They do the transfer housing lottery @July 18th so everyone who has been accepted has an equal chance. Last year, they had @90 male students in the lottery – son got #54. They took the first 20, then, as the start semester commenced, they got to @#48. By about Aug. 1st, son figured he better get something off-campus so got the list of other ND transfers looking for one semester of off-campus housing (this list pops-up on the website once the lottery has taken place). He and the three kids with whom he communicated decided on a rental just under 1/4 mile from campus – 10 min walk to center of campus. As a parent, I was a little hesitant about his being off the first semester but they all had a great time and all 4 got on-campus in January.
