if someone could remember the real question to the first grid-in where the answer was 0 that would be awesome. Nobody seems to have given the correct question so far, someone must know tho

What was the last Writing question? The one everyone says is "D"?

brandaman, it was something along the lines of:

2x + 3y = x + 2y. If y=0, what does x equal? I don't remember the actual figures, but I do remember that the coefficients of the x values were not equal to the coefficients of the y values, meaning that the only solution was 0.

the question was 3x+2y=x+3y. what does y equal when x equals zero. Brandon, the specific digits of that question dont matter as long as X is zero.

so what is the consensus on chinatown? undecided? s'vrone made a great point, as the question was vague in those regards

I still think the answer to the last question was A stambliark... it was something like:

____ participated in the development of Iraq, helping the country transition from war (or something), and also advising the president of that country.

I thought it was fine as is. Other people think it should be changed to D... which would make it:

____ particpated in the development of Iraq, having helped the country transition from war (or something), and also advised the president of that country.

D sounded awkward to me.

SoL, I put A for that question, too.

I don't remember the question with "shattered" for the physics CR passage. Can someone jog my memory with the answer or some context?

SoL, I believe I put the same answer as you. My justification was that "helping" is parallel to "advising" (not to mention that the other answers seemed awkward). I was pretty sure I was correct on all of the section 10 questions, but I guess I'll cross my fingers on this one.

Also, does anyone remember the answers to the short passage concerning the man who revisits some girl that loves him or whatever... forgot

yeah.. A makes sense. cuz the progressive (and parallel) helping/advising is used to characterize the nature of the lady's participation... it's not used to suggest that she was currently doing those things. how many A's total did you get on section 10, stambliark.. do you remember?

robot...the answers for that passage were that he came to propose to the girl... and the girl had a complex personality.

SoL, how many A's...yikes don't have that kind of genius memory. :)

I know I got D's for the 1st 4 (as did many other people). Did you?

yeah i got 4 D's to start it off... then i remember i got something else for number 5 (either A or B)... and then I got D again for 6.

bingo agree for 1-6. you seem like you know the drill so b/w the 2 of us it looks good. damn paragraphs...800 may be gone unless i can manage -0 on all non-paragraph writing questions...

yeah... it'll come down to the paragraphs and the essay... which paragraph questions are you nervous about?

Paragraphs...let's see.

There was one about what to add to the final sentence (I believe this is the biography one). I put an answer that it seems no one else put...the one along the lines of "Dragonwings introduced lots of cool stuff and I am glad I read it." It seemed like all the other answers were redundant, talking about Dragonwings things that already happened, plus I never read anything about a biography (and I did look special for it).

And then the question about what he should have clarified...I put the successful airplane flight. I'm not sure if that is wrong, but I have heard both ways on that one so that is certainly questionable.

yeah those are the ones that are questionable for me too.

so am I way off on that first one? Do you remember why you didn't consider that as an answer?

yeah... i didnt like it cuz the question asked which of the following would best link the last sentence to the rest of the paragraph. i eliminated the biography one b/c nowhere in the passage did it say he intended to write a bio. then i eliminated your option because it didn't really apply to the rest of the paragraph. the paragraph mentioned why the flight was successful in the first two sentences. then it mentioned there were only 2 articles published on the event. it didnt make sense to me for the author to comment on how he enjoyed it at that point. that's why i put "even with two articles, the author put together an excellent blend of fact and fiction." i felt this option connected best with the previous statement of there being only 2 accounts available.
