Offical SAT II Writing Thread

for the essay, I only had one specific example but I elaborated it a lot but in only one paragraph, is that too short? Any chances of getting 10+?

^ I remember that, but forgot what I put. My proctor was ridiculously stupid. I'm just taking them again in Dec at a better school where maybe they'll care more and have clocks that work... I'm just going to forget about Columbia and focus on NYU, BU, and like Hopkins or something.

leely: 3-4 (I means it's one paragraph, most likely I'm wrong though.. =/)

I know I wrote Intro, 1st example fully elaborated, 2nd..., 3rd..., conclusion. It could be an AP essay ^_^.

Does any1 know if we'll get a large curve or not?
ctmarle the underlined word i think was worser so ye that was an error

What about the Dad Paragraph in which u had to Improve the whole sentence. It was something like " When I talk to my dad, he asks me some questions, and then he understands me"

mag00 -- are you serious about that last post? what does one's race have to do with anything whatsoever? you are so narrow minded.

I dun remember what I put, but what was wrong with worsened?

mag00, no I mean I had 3 paragraphs, but only 1 talked about the example.

i felt as though "had worsened" was more appropriate.

I put the more logical.

I thought the dad one was in past tense but I don't remember

dam i think i had like 4 E's in the first 20...
Q 3 (the Civil Rights one) and 4 were E,
I put the Liar one as E but that should be B and the Winston Churchll one should have been an E
I cant remember the fourth E i put

the general consensus here seems to be it was hard. did anyone find it like other prep tests? easy? hard?

just trying to see if we might get a generous curve or not

Uhh... Alot? I go to the damn school, I know what a ****hole it is... I'm sorry but it's the damn truth. I'm not saying no smart black/spanish/whatever people. I'm just saying my school is a perfect example of how a school shouldn't be run. 5262 kids. about 200 white, 10-20 asians, 2 jewish, the rest are spanish/black. Out of those rest about 250 honestly care about school/life.

I'm just honestly going to go to like Cranford or Westfield... Somewhere where they actually care about school and take SATs seriously. I just feel like I shouldn't be interrupted by someone cursing at the proctor or getting into a fight or anything else.

which winston churchil one?

I found the Sentence error part more subtle than the part from Barrons

I found it to be just like Kaplan tests. The essay quote caught me off guard for about 20-30 seconds, then I just jotted down my three topics and never looked back. rawr.

The winston churchill one which was like "Un like other prime ministers, Winston churchill had great insight into the minds of other people"

your environment where the SATs are proctored arent at all indicative of the school itself. you seem to be quite an insular person who wants to be surrounded by conservative, smart, quite, studious, and preppy kids. the real world is different and much more dynamic and eccentric. its called the real world.

and if you feel that things went so terribly bad then go call the College Board and tell them that your environment was really messed up.

I understand your frustration, but to generalize a whole race of human beings is not right. You need to rectify they way you regard people. There is a big world out there and not all African Americans, or any other ethnic group, are the same. We are all very different and this is why it is important that we promote patience and understanding of others.

and if you feel that things went so terribly bad then go call the College Board and tell them that your environment was really messed up.

Yes, I absolutely agree. If your school has been given the right to hold the SAT, then your school should be obey all the neccessary rules.
