Current: Emory University
Major: (Premedical) Chemistry, Music, Business Possibly -> May Transfer to ChemE/BioE but still remain Premed
Applying To: Yale or Harvard, MIT, Columbia, Brown, UPenn, still deciding on others :/... any suggestions?

Really want to be back in the northeast and close to home so yale/columbia/upenn will prob be my top 3.

caa5042, I read that and was a bit confused by it. Does it mean that I have to finish at least one year at CMU before I enter MIT or before I apply? If it's the latter I guess I'd have to apply for a spring transfer next year.

Oh and caa5042 are you planning on transferring to MIT too, you seem to be knowledgeable about the school's transfer policies. Or are you prehaps one of the lucky 16 this year?

yeah i read it a second time and i dont get it either. But it looks like you need to apply your sophomore year. Not sure though.

LOL- me? lucky 16? Only in my dreams. I just finished my freshman year in college-I'm at Penn State. I'm applying to stanford,U penn and harvard and I completely counted MIT out when i saw their transfer policies and their transfer admission rates. According to their website, you lose at least one semester of coursework completed at the previous institution.Typically, you lose a full year of completed coursework. I MIGHT apply though. But i dont know if i'm prepared to spend an extra year in college.

Yep, I plan on transferring, even though I haven't even started college yet either.
Current School: University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Commonwealth College
Major: Pyschology, with a minor in Education
Applying to: probably Colgate and Williams. Yeah I know its a long shot, but I have already started piecing together an application...and my essay is still in the outline/draft stage but it holds promise of really packing a punch.

LOL Well there is that, but I was really made to feel as though I were a second class citizen. Everytime I called, I was transferred around with no one to give me an answer. When I had even a simple question, no one seemed to know the answer or where I could find it. There were promises made and broken time and again. Overall, I was really dissatisfied and was actually relieved when I was waitlisted and then denied. Unless their act changes, I would discourage applying. However, that is just my experience and my opinion.

Havent started school yet but I have a bad high school track record.

Current School: UCM

I really hope I get to transfer. I feel completely out of place at UCM :(
I have finished all my requirements at UCM due to AP credits, and with the lack of classes I have been taking a lot of electives. Most students there aren't as far ahead as I am.
Hopefully everything works out for the best.
