Offical Transfering Thread for Fall 07'

This one is for my friend.
Current school: MIT
Majors: Physics
Intended Minor: Physics
Applying to: Caltech

I know this transition is kinda pointless, but oh well.

can you really take SAT's as a college student?

yes it's very easy...just sign up on collegeboard.com like normal.

omg can I take that dude's spot at MIT. I can't believe there are people that wanna leave. Can you ask ur friend why in the world he'd ever want to leave the greatest place on earth?

She told me that Caltech is her dream school. I dont really see the point of transferring since MIT and Caltech are probably in the same league of prestige and quality. I dont know why she prefers Caltech over MIT though, I;ll ask her next time i see her online.

id love her spot at MIT too. cant imagine who would ever want to leave MIT

I hope to transfer next fall. I am an English major, hoping to get into one of these schools:

UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSB
USC
Probably Stanford

Here is my info:
Current GPA: 3.88
Working as English and Math tutor
Vice-President of Anthropology Club at my Junior College
Honors Student

Can anyone comment on my chances getting into one of my school choices?

i'd consider your chances very good at UCLA, UCSB as long as you are following the requirements. Your chances are good at Berkeley and USC. However, transferring to Stanford from a junior college is extremely difficult.

thnaks for reply #68

wow. transfer thread is already up! lol!

well, this is my second transfer. i'm so sick of college applications, i just want to spit. but i have my reasons for wanting to go to another school.

current school: northwestern
major: psychology (pre-med)
applying to:

washington university in st. louis

yale

harvard

stanford

u penn

i'm not going to hope too much for the last 4. i applied to yale and stanford last year (yale as a freshman, stanford as a transfer) and got into neither. i was waitlisted at u penn. bah. whatever. i'm thinking that trying to transfer out of a conservatory my first year made it harder. hopefully things go a little better this time. :/ not counting on it though...

blahhhh. northwestern to wustl? i'd stay at nu..

I'd transfer to WUSTL!

yeah both great schools so not necessarily a move down (especially for one going to med school, they're a/b even).

Why ya wanna leave Northwestern?

Shush, I want helloangel's spot at NU!! I just wish angel was in the Communications school. I need someone's film spot!!!

I'm up for transfer in Fall 07' too, so here goes:

Current school: Community College in LA
Major: Neuroscience

Schools that I'm applying to:
UCLA, UCB, USC, Occidental,

Schools that I'm considering:
Stanford, Bates, Grinnell, Kenyon, Amherst

Scary list. I'm trying to refine it before app time comes around but it's been tough. ;(

If anyone has any ideas about transferring to any of the schools above, help please!

brand_182 - i primarily chose northwestern for its double-degree program (music and weinberg arts & sciences.) however, i've decided to just forget about the music degree and focus on my studies in psychology. i'm taking summer classes at wustl and i really like it (plus it's only 2 hours from home.) also, wustl's psych program is simply great (same with yale, stanford, and u penn.) so i'm just looking to upgrade my opportunities in psych for the most part.

Current School: Was @ Emmanuel College in Boston, MA, and then transferred to QCC (Community College) because of medical reasons.
Major: Pretty much undecided, but I'm looking into Sociology
Applying To: University Of Vermont and thinking about a few others. UVM is a definite though, applying wise.

Gahhh I hope everything works out...

Current School: Uni of Illinois at Urbana-Champagin
Major: Not sure yet! Undecided right now but I will choose one soon.
Applying to: USC and maybe some other schools but haven't thought about any yet. Reason is because I don't know which schools will take in sophmore transfers.

thaitan.. mostly every school takes in sophomore transfers, unless it's a specific program that only admits junior transfers.

^ Ah okay thanks for clearing that up!
