Offical Transfering Thread for Fall 07'

brand - I am leaving Swat becuase the school just isn't for me. I really hate the "Swat bubble" and I want to go to a school that is more like the real world.

I haven't started UChicago yet and I'm already getting nervous about how "intellectual" the school is and how everyone seems to go there to become knowledgeable but not necessarily trained for anything. And there just doesn't seem to be many options by way of classes.

Current school: UMich - Ann Arbor
Current major: Business
Applying to: Harvard, UPenn, Northwestern
Applying as: Economics or Philosophy

If Michigan can pull through with at least 20k in financial aid this year, I'll stay :] I'm sick of transferring and all of those applications.

mwbashful, what do you mean there aren't many options? :o

Current school: VCCS (Virginia Community College)
Current GPA: 3.75
Applying to: GMU, Vtech, UVa, W&M (Someone help me think of other schools with good financial aid and in the East Coast).
Applying as: Economics/Philosophy

does anyone know anything about: Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine?

Sorry, but this is the wrong place to ask that. Maybe there's a section on international schools?

actually. i was asking b/c i was considering transferring there for a sophmore transfer in fall 07 but im not sure if i should or not, thus on the official transfer fall 07 thread, i thought maybe someone might. if u dont know anything about disregard it and move on. period.

Current School: JHU
Major: English/History
Applying to: Havard, Yale, Dartmouth, UChicago, Northwestern (?), Stanford, Penn

what dont you like about JHU? just curious, because i almost went there

Current School: CC in Pennsylvania
Major: Undeclared, but thinking about English/Pre-Law or something in the sciences.
Schools Looking Into: UPenn, Temple, Stanford, Villanova, and maybe Philly U

Comments: My #1 choice is my dream college (Stanford) but I doubt that I would get in. I'm only applying because you never know until you try.

My more realistic (though not by much) #1 would be UPenn. I love the campus and I've heard such great things about the faculty. I'd love to go there.

Next would be Temple. My sister will be graduating from Temple soon (I'm not sure if that matters to admissions) and I like the campus.

I'm not really sure if I actually want to go to Villanova. I know it's a traditionally Catholic university and I'm not religious at ALL. If anyone can tell me exactly how religious the campus is now, I would really appreciate it.

Last would be Philadelphia University. My sister went there before transfering to Temple. The only reason she transfered was roommate problems and just not getting along with other students. I figured If I don't get in anywhere else I could go there.

Just wondering...what is the liklihood of being admitted as a junior transfer to schools such as Berkeley, Chicago, Cornell, Michigan, etc.?

if you're OOS, Berkeley is very hard.
Chicago's acceptance rate is around 30%, Cornell depends on the college but is low all the way around, and Michigan I'm not sure a/b yet. I think Mich is pretty good.

hey forgiven,

have you decided whether you'll be applying for philosophy or economics yet? I'm hoping to transfer for my junior year (columbia and some others) as a philosophy major, and I was wondering what kind of preparation you have for the major in terms of ECs or publications or anything like that. I'm trying to get some ideas...

Current College: Montgomery College (community college in MD)

Reaches: Harvard, Stanford, Yale, UPenn

Chance at (bc they have accept students from my college): WUSTL, Cornell, JHU, Georgetown, American, George Washington, Rice

Others: Maryland CP

Right now my goal is to transfer to somewhere near an urban center, with scientific research opporunities, good cultural scene, great financial aid for my needy family, diverse (im a minority) and good medical school placement

Because I am applying to so many colleges I am hoping I can get some type of waiver for the application fees.

I do have to take the SATs (for the first time) which is a bummer. Because of my ECs and recommendations I have been told that if I can get high SAT scores to compliment my 4.0 I may have a better chance at the ivies.

But at the end of the day, I am so sick of working 30 hours a week, paying rent, eating ramen noodles, and trying to keep up my GPA so I will be happy to get in wherever! :)

Current College: St. John's University

Major: Political Science/Government

Reaches: Tufts, Georgetown,
Matches (Maybe):Fordham,BU, UCONN

My main reason for transfering is the rules at SJU, I feel like i'm being smothered.

It's so weird to go back and see my first post on here...my schools have changed quite a bit (for the better) and I was foolish to be "sure" about Northwestern. At least I'm learning.

Current school: University of Michigan

Major: Psychology (possibly Communications as well)

I'm thinking of transferring as well..but I don't know where to apply to because I really want to go to California. I only know that Berekley and Stanford have a good Psych program. But I feel like I have little chance of getting accepted by them, and Berekeley is a huge school as well.

Does anyone know of any schools (including LAC) in California with a good psychology progrram? Thanks a lot!!

Well, here's where I stand:

Current School: Villanova University

Intended Major: International Relations or Latin American Studies (of course, this is contingent on the transfer decisions!)

Applying to: UPenn, Georgetown, Tufts, Columbia, NYU, Harvard, GW

Reasons for transfering: I need a city school with an International Relations program and a strong Latin American studies program (especially one that offers Portuguese as a language); 'Nova has neither, and is the epitome of suburbia (like I said, I need a city...).

Good luck everyone, BTW! I suppose were all in this home stretch together.

Current School:CCC
Major: Poli Sci/History
Applying:ucsb,uci,ucr,ucla,ucb,sdsu,csulb

heard back ucsb and sdsu and those are some of my top options. i have many highschool friends at sdsu and thats always a positive but i think im prolly leaning more towards ucsb just so i can have that real "college" experience but any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
