You probably didn’t do the graph properly.

4 more days guys!

i know! im so nervous. i wonder if they post the decisions sooner

I just want time to go by FASTER!

Same here. Its killing me! Ahh but again, best of luck to all of us! 3 more days!

2 more days fellas!

Why was admission to UC’s so competitive this year? I know admission was given to those who rightfully deserved it, but still…it seems a little unfair how low the admissions rates were compared to last year!

2012 AR to 2013 AR

Cal 21% - 20% not much change
UCLA 21% - 20% not much change
UCSD 35% - 36% only UC to rise!
UC Davis 45% - 39.4% (6 percent decrease! isn’t that really harsh?)
UCSB 43% - 39% (again, really harsh!)
UC Santa Cruz 60% - 48% (extremely harsh!)

I know there are budget cuts and all. I also know that working a little harder in high school would have made this whole process alot easier. But to make it this much harder to get into a UC! especially one that someone may have their hopes on is really unfair. Especially now since it seems like they’re offering more admissions to OOS and international students!

Isn’t the whole point of the UC system to provide an education for CALIFORNIA residents? I understand the whole point of wanting to go to the UC system for an education, but still shouldn’t there be some loyalty to california residents, especially cause our parents pay the taxes that help fund the UC system?!

Not sure, but i heard Davis had a lot more applicants this year than any other year. When i called their counseling office to find out why i was denied admission in the first place, they told me over 73% of the applicants had above a 4.0 gpa and high SAT/ACT scores.

And from what i’ve been told, Davis actually accepted more California students than ever, about 16,000 or so. And since the UC Budget is pretty low, they accept international/Out-Of-State a bit more so that they can pay more in tuition compared to Californian residents, crazy right?

Trust me, i feel your frustration too. If they don’t accept you, make the best of whatever college you’re going too and know that UCD lost out on a great student that was willing to do anything to make UCD shine above the rest. But for now, just gotta be patient. (:

@Dsharma, wow I didn’t expect the acceptance to have dropped that much! I have feeling some schools might have under admitted so that’s good news to wait list and people who appealed.

what are you guys’ majors? Anyone’s appealing for an impacted major? =

I’m appealing for Biological Sciences, which is scaring me the most since its one of the most impacted majors at Davis from what i’ve been told. I honestly don’t get why they has us to put a ‘2nd alternative major’, which for me was Music.

I’m appealing for Computer Engineering. I wonder what time tomorrow they will post the appeal decisions.
At my school no student accepted their admission offer to Davis.

i’m appealing for communication studies which is impacted as well… =\ Let me know if the appeal works… Btw I haven’t even called the admission to ask why I was rejected yet, does anyone have the phone number? lol… thanks!
i’m a transfer so my deadline to submit my appeal is 5/15. I will try to submit it asap though. i’m still trying to get as many letters of rec. from my professors and counselors. Besides those, i’m not sure what else I should send them to support my appeal letter.

^530-752-2971. Good luck.

Dang,. :o Well good luck to all of us then.

@formomilan: I’m not sure if you’ll get a direct answer if you call them though. As soon as i found out i was rejected from Davis on the 17th of last month, i called to see why i was rejected and told me they couldn’t give me an exact reason since they use a ‘holistic’ process of reviewing applicants. ._. But here’s the number if you want to give it a shot: 530-752-2971 . As for supplements, anything that could make your appeal stronger could help. For example, in my appeal i stated that i would like to do more research on Autism, which i supported by sending in an article of me in the newspaper running the torch for the Special Olympics as it came through Northern California. Best of luck to you though. (:

As for the rest of us, good luck and just hope for the best tomorrow. I think appeals should be up around 9a.m and continue throughout the day and possibly May 1st, so in case that happens, be prepared to deposit the SIR money to your backup school.

@Formomlian, I believe the limit of letter of recommendations is two isn’t it? Not entirely sure though.

@Sighten: Is it? o.o Cause i submitted 6 letters of recommendations… :l oh well.

I think it’s because I saw it on Santa Barbara that said two is the limit. So for Davis I don’t know.

I wonder if they post the decisions midnight. Does anyone know?

Ohh, alright then.

@ucdavis489: I sure hope so, the waiting is killing me. :/
