Office of Admissions

Just received a copy of my student’s official transcript for application (on August 1) and noticed the ranking date is not the same as the generated date. Transcript is through the Junior year and school says they will not re-rank until January 2017. Student should be automatic admit since he is in top 25% and has a 30 for his ACT score. Will this be an issue?

If the transcript through the junior year shows him to be in the top 25%, he should have no problem, that’s the way it is for everyone.

Thank you. Yes the transcript is through the Junior year but for some reason the ranking date is not at the end of the Junior year but was from January of Junior year and they do not plan to “re-rank” until January of Senior year.

Oh, okay, now I see what you’re saying. According to the website, ( http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/apply ) they say you need 6 semesters of course work shown on the transcript, so it would appear that as long as the transcript shows the final grades for the courses in junior year, it would seem valid. Different schools have differing and weird ways in how and when they rank students, so the date of ranking doesn’t seem like it should cause an issue. If you want to be sure you can email them at admissions@tamu.edu or call (979) 845-1060.
