My son took the ACT 10/05. Getting his scores early was critical since he was approaching deadlines from our Congressman's and Senator's office for Service Academy Nominations and ROTC scholarships. As soon as his scores were posted (excluding his writing score) I printed a copy at home.
I then called and/or e-mailed the scholarship coordinators to alert them that my son's scores improved dramaticly. His previous scores were good enough to apply for the Service Academies but his new scores now made him a VERY competitive candidate! One scholarship coordinator asked that I fax the printed page that I got from ACT's websight. The coordinator knew that the "official" scores from ACT would still take weeks.
This approach may help others that are trying to get their application(s) noticed (or at least pulled and moved to the top of the pile). :)
With all that said....I am happy to report that My son was notified before Thanksgiving of his nominations to West Point and the Air Force Academy. Better yet, on Dec. 16, 2005 he was offered an Appointment to the US Air Force Academy. My son's hard work and my persistence paid off.
