Officer Positions

If I am the President of a club for one semester, and not the next semester (because of Track), will there be a problem if the 2nd semester's President is applying to schools I am applying to, and we both put President of the club on our resumes?

Thanks for the help. I don't want to have discrepancies in my app.

If it were me, I think I'd put down co-president of the organization.

just mention the year that you were president, and ask the current president to do the same.

well, its not even an issue. if youre dealing with the common app, then its not even relevant, cuz it just asks for positions that youve held, and doesnt ask for you to specify years.

its interesting cuz im a junior this year and im president of 5 clubs, but next year i can be president of no more than 3 of them due to term restrictions. but that doesnt decrease my overall involvement in the club, and colleges recognize this so it doesnt matter what year it is as long as you make a difference. so for that reason, you can legitimately have more than one person be a particular position.

Should you indicate with parentheses which year you were each position?

Walton-> yeah I think that would be safest. Why take chances, right?

well, like i said, i dont think thats really much of an issue. since people can legitimately have a position one year (not their senior year) and someone else could have that position the year after that. since ultimately the impact that you have in doing that activity is what matters.

well said, well said.
