Official 12/4 SAT II Writing Thread

it was originally attests...

Ja attests. I concur. I'm surprised that I did really well on these. i put that WERE was wrong for the neither nor, got rarified right, as well as attests, and the height more than, plus wrote a great essay talking about how individual interests should factor in the interests of a society. And when it is detrimental to a society, it should be curtailed. Like the Atom bomb, and addictions like drugs and alcohol. also wrote about MLK and WEB DuBois as characters who help society.

But I also took US History a second time. I'm really scared about that. Got a 650 last time on Writing and a 580 on the US History. Blah...didnt study at all last time haha

I thought I was doing pretty well but then our proctor suddenly called time up :/, we had no 5 or 10 minute warnings :(. So... I had to omit 5 on improving sentences (I do that last). Think I have any chance at all for 700?

ehh i would say if you got everything else right, it would be around there just a bit above it, but i'm not too good at evaluating. + you don't really know how you did until the scores come in. Our proctor didnt announce the time either, but i only missed the last two!!! i was reading question 59 and she said stop, so i sall something like "despite" without a comma, which was c, so i quickly bubbled that in. was that right?

does anyone remember the answer to a question about accrediting women on the frontline

i think so. was it near the end?

i think i selected "accrediting" - it should have been "to accredite", if i remember the question correctly.

that is what i put as well

yeah, same here

yep to accredite is right

Oh man I blew the essay. I literally stopped mid-sentence. =\ lol but that's me I'm a dummy. I got a lot of D's on the multiple choice.

I thought accrediting was wrong too but then i saw another error in the sentence and chose that one. Did everybody choose accrediting?

can someone retype that question? I don't remember it at all (the one with accrediting).

Yeah, I don't remember it either.

I know the question. It's something like Emma was not accredited to report from the battlefield even though women had always reported on the frontline. My wording is pretty awkward, but you get the idea?

But I don't remember what I put. :(

there was a lack of parallelism i think

I Screwed That Test Up!

my friend lucked out on the essay. Just two days b4, I made him write a practice essay with the SAME EXACT TOPIC from the kaplan book (or it might've been princeton review).

bumpin'...

OMG, yoonsk, your friend owes you big time! You must have used the PR book because I used Kaplan and have never come across that question.

I loved that essay prompt! The one I practiced with from a book was "The rights of the individual should outweigh the rights of the community." My examples were 1984, the Salem Witch Trials, and a 1950s incident in Levittown where the residents harassed a black family away. I should probably have used the Red Scare, but I didn't think of it.
